The Go Rally was very good. I got to spend time with other people that I never really got to know. And most of all, I learned a lot. I went to a rally called: GO!. The Band Jezreel came along with Paul Vike to help us with the event. So this post will just be dedicated to help those who weren't able to make it ... for anyone hehe. I just hope this will help someone or even question themselves about their life. ANYWHOOOO here we go.
So today we learned about WHAT stops us from GO-ing and serving God and sharing the gospel. Paul Vike gave us ten main points that prevent us from serving God.
There are 10 roadblocks and each one goes with a verse from the bible that will help us destroy the roadblock. I'm not going to go into detail...
1. Apathy.
This basically means when you know about something and you don't care.
EXAMPLE: You know about a youth group meeting/fellowship and you just go "EH whatever. I'd rather watch a movie."
How to break this roadblock?
VERSE: 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
ROMANS 12:11
2. Sin
This is of course a big one. We all sin. and that gets in the way of our serving the Lord.
VERSE: 11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there,
Touch no unclean thing;
Go out from the midst of her,
Be clean,
You who bear the vessels of the LORD.
Isaiah 52:11
We mustn't feel guilty when we sin. If we do it's like God died for us for nothing. Don't let sin bring you down and keep you from serving God.
3. Pride
Sometimes we won't share the godpel to our friends because we have too much pride.
dictionary.com defines pride as: a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
We feel that friends are more important. and we don't want them to think we're weird talking about God to them so we don't do anything. or share about God's love to them.
VERSE: 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:26
4. Fear
We are afraid of serving God. We are afraid of sharing the gospel. Fear always has a way of keeping us from serving God.
VERSE: 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
5. Doubt
We doubt serving God. We're afraid of how things will turn out. EXMAPLE: Telling your friend about God. you're scared that they won't be saved and you doubt everything. Instead, we should trust that God will make a way. He will work with your friend and help her to beleive that God's love does exist.
VERSE: 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5
6. Deception
Satan tells us lies. "You're not good enough. or steal this or lie." soooo basically that gives us duobt from serving God. Can't really explain. LOL
VERSE:
John 8:31-33 (New King James Version)
The Truth Shall Make You Free
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
----------
2 Corinthians 4:4 (New King James Version)
4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
7. Past
^ well hopefully you guys can just tell by reading each point why these are roadblocks. Cos i can't wuite explain. it just makes sense in my head. LOL
SOOO, Whatever it may be that happened to us in the past. We can't use that to excuse ourselves from serving God. It was the past, and we should build our future. Your past cannot be in the way of anything.
VERSE:
Hebrews 12:15 (New King James Version)
15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
----------
Philippians 3:13 (New King James Version)
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
8. Money
Whether you want to go on a mission trip, go. If lack of money is the problem, learn to trust God. he will make a way.
VERSE:
Matthew 6:33 (New King James Version)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
------
Philippians 4:19 (New King James Version)
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
9. Busyness
Sometimes we're too busy that we block God out of our lives. Work, school, being with friends...etc. We need to set out time for God.
VERSE:
Luke 9:24-26 (New King James Version)
24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
LASTLY!
10. Inadequacy
DEFINITION (dictionary.com): An instance of being inadequate; a failing or lack.
So like, a lack of a quality or something that keeps us from serving God. We don't need to perfect. God will provide us anything; strength.
VERSE:
Joshua 1:9 (New King James Version)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
----------
Philippians 4:13 (New King James Version)
13 I can do all things through Christ[a] who strengthens me.
RESULTS: (can't really remember...sorry LOL)
1. It shows that we are obedient
2. It puts feet on our faith
3. Something about the fruit of the spirit
4. --
